Traditional configurations such as set-top boxes will remain the staple for some years and demand will continue to increase. But alternative emerging devices are now providing additional major growth opportunities. By 2010 Strategy Analytics estimates that more than one third of annual digital TV devices sold will be mobile phones, as handset vendors strive to place a ‘TV in every pocket’. Technology providers should plan for increased diversification in the digital TV device market; device manufacturers likely to lead the fixed/mobile DTV convergence opportunity are Samsung, Sony/Sony Ericsson and LG. http://www.strategyanalytics.net/default.aspx?mod=ReportAbstractViewer&a0=2388 Of course in 2010 one will have a different way of watching TV than the passive mode we are used now.|W|P|111921814614019241|W|P|Your next TV: a mobile phone|W|P|tanguy.delestre@gmail.com6/13/2005 01:47:00 AM|W|P|Tanguy De Lestré|W|P|Last Friday, the King Baudouin stadium was filled with U2 fans for their first concert in Europe on this tour. Mobile phones have been used as follows: - Mobile phone replaces lighters: the stadium was blinking with the lights of tens of thousands of cell phones; - Mobile SMS to participate in 'ONE cause for Africa'.: many premium SMS have been send directly from the Concert grounds, some names showed on the screen, and a contribution was made instantly for the 'ONE cause for Africa'. An additional temorary GSM base station was spotted next to the Stadium in order to allow this peak traffic. Ultimately, Virgin Mobile TV will also let customers record their favourite programmes to watch later on their mobile.Virgin Mobile and network partner BT Livetime will this month pilot the service over a four-month trial in the M25 region. The TV service will be broadcast over the DAB digital radio network.|W|P|111808350404332239|W|P|Across the Channel: mobile TV over DAB anouncement|W|P|tanguy.delestre@gmail.com
